Ajax Downtown

We had breakfast everyday here during our stay at Limelight. The venue is nice, service is very attentive and fast and environment is overall great. I always had the all American breakfast which was on point each time, eggs were great, the potatoes were delicious. With my husband we shared the steel cut outs which I also highly recommend. The first day my husband asked for the steak frites which was a bit underwhelming but the rest of the days he had the all American too and loved it.

We stayed at the Limelight Hotel for four nights and had breakfast at Ajax three mornings in a row. Every morning, my husband had the latte, and I had the cappuccino, both solid, but the real highlight was the care and execution from the kitchen staff. On our first day, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the scrambled eggs were the fluffiest I’ve ever had, clearly cooked low and slow with intention. The breakfast potatoes were crisp and plentiful. The next day’s omelet was just as delicious. For our last evening, we ordered room service, and I finally tried the duck entrée I’d been eyeing all week. Even delivered to our room, the skin was beautifully crispy, and the smoky flavor was absolutely divine. You can tell the kitchen team takes real pride in their food. Highly recommend Ajax!

The food at Ajax Denver Downtown is really, really good, and our dinner server both nights was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making our experience great. However, a brunch takeout issue with the manager left a very bad impression. We placed a to-go brunch order in the morning after being told there would be a 45-minute wait. The receptionist wrote down the order along with our room number and phone number and said we’d be called when it was ready. After waiting over an hour, I returned to pick it up and was told by the manager that no order existed at all. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the situation, she insisted the order was never placed and told me to reorder and wait another 30 minutes. When I explained how frustrating this was after already waiting an hour, her responses were dismissive and unprofessional, including “Do you want the food or not?” and sarcastic comments about needing a time machine to get our time back. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, empathy, and professionalism was the real issue. A simple apology or effort to fix the situation would have gone a long way. Amazing food and great servers, but management seriously affected the overall experience.
